Description
Here is something really special, a large serving platter made by Theodore Haviland of Limoges France, specifically for the Meier China and Glass Co. of St. Louis Mo. This makes this extremely rare indeed. I have seen very few examples of this on the market.
It is beautifully decorated with Havilands traditional pastel pink roses, but the platter itself has an interesting design on a scalloped edge and raised relief bows either side of the antique gold design trimmed handles.
The mark places this as being made between 1903 to about 1920. It is in amazing condition for its age, no chips or cracks or crazing. Has a couple of very minor iron spots starting to show on the middle bottom edge and a couple of minor utensil marks, but it is amazing that it is in as good a condition that it is considering its age. It looks like it has been hardly used. This is really something special
The platter measures 18 3/4″ long by 12 3/4″ wide, so it is a nice size, perfect for serving Turkey. It is quite heavy and sturdy.
