This is a stunning hand painted fruit bowl decorated in a deep cobalt blue color with floral bouquet in the vignettes and as the centerpiece surrounded by nice gold moriage work. There is a very light gold cross hatch overlaying the blue. Floral bouquets adorn the outside of the bowl as well. Photos do not do it justice. It is truly a delightful piece and would be a great piece on the table.
It is marked, Made by Moki probably early 20s made for export in Japan if not a bit earlier 1900 to 1920 s as it does not have a made in Japan export label as was required after 1920. The cobalt flow blue design was very popular at the turn of the century in Europe and in the USA.
Measures 11″ across and 3″ tall.
It is in good vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks, a couple of tiny iron spots from age, and some wear on the outside of the bowl, probably from stacking, but it generally looks hardly used.
